SMITE 2 is being built for the long haul with community and Unreal Engine 5 at its core

Initially launched in 2014, SMITE by Titan Forge Games, the largest of Hi-Rez’s in-house studios, is a third-person multiplayer online battle arena game that lets players choose from a diverse cast of deities, each with their own abilities, as they join the Battleground of the Gods.

Having spent the past 10 years successfully building a community of over 40 million players and continually developing and delivering the content they crave, the Alpharetta, GA-based developer set its sights on continuing that success for the next decade with SMITE 2.

We recently visited with the team to talk to General Manager Travis Brown, Executive Producer Alex Cantatore, Advanced Game Designer Daniel "Pon" Cooper, Animation Director Daniel Lilleberg, and Gameplay Programmer Kaleb Sjogren to learn more about the role community feedback plays in creating content and influencing gameplay. We also heard firsthand how Unreal Engine 5 features such as Niagara, Control Rig, and the Gameplay Abilities System have transformed development into a more streamlined, collaborative process.
